Whether you are at the final stage of the membership examination or are just getting started, hold the right helping hand. Moreover, preparing with a busy schedule can be hectic, especially if you work night shifts, right? Well, do not worry, gaining clinical practice in the OBS and GYNAE settings is also a part of studying for MRCOG.

Surely, for any post-MBBS licensing or membership exam, it is vital to have a full grip on the relevant speciality. After the house job, you must work in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OB-GYN) ward, as first-hand experience surpasses any theoretical material. But there is another confusion, as to how differently one should prepare for part 1, 2 and 3.

How Are the Parts of MRCOG Different from Each Other?

Like anything else in this world, different parts of the international membership examination are also different. So, let us explore the key details and get the idea of how to study MRCOG 1, 2 or 3 format in the text below:

Study MRCOG

a. MRCOG-1

The primary part tests basic sciences relevant to OBGYN topics (anatomy, physiology, pharmacology) through multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Yes, this format makes it a written test which evaluates thousands of doctors basic understanding of the clinical scenarios.

b. MRCOG-2

To study MRCOG part 2, focus on clinical application and decision-making. Because it uses SBAs and EMQs based on real-life scenarios related to OBG topics.

c. MRCOG-3

Lastly, the third part assesses hands-on skills like patient communication, clinical judgment, and professionalism via OSCE stations. Thus, it simulates real clinical situations based on the RCOG format and syllabus.

So, together, they progressively evaluate your readiness to practice as a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology.
